do our key fobs lose battery
Do our key fobs every lose batter? and I was told I believe that they charge by sticking it into the ignition? I have CA and rarely if ever plug my key in as it sits in my pocket but the other day I got a message on my car screen that looked like a key fob with a battery symbol or something. Can they be charged by sticking it in the car
I believe w/ comfort access it will not charge when you put it in the ignition. You can pop off the cover on the back of the fob and a small battery goes in there.
Cars without comfort access will charge when you put the key in the ingnition.

Standard key: Yes
The manual states you should use the spare key at least once a year.
Comfort Access: Yes but it has an interchangeable battery.

Does this charging apply to pre-LCI cars too? I had no idea.

Yea.

So if for some reason I have to switch to my spare keyfob, I'll expect it to not unlock the car initially.
I'll have to do a test with that tomorrow, see if my (after-market) car alarm is turned off from turning the key in the door.
