BMW introduced the new and improved door seals earlier this year to stop squeaking. Do the new door seals improve the situation posed by the earlier squeaky seals?

I had mine changed this week, a lot better now.
The service advisor said that the old ones were probably affected by wrong kind of car shampoo. Advised to use BMW own product as it is non foaming & designed for the car. Also advised that they are only changed once under warranty, as likely to be affected by incorrect car wash being used.

They used carboflo on mine, didn't replace it.. It's been like 5 months now, no squeeks. But I only drive her like 150 miles per month.

I had my door seals and sun roof seal changed in early summer and not a peep from them since.
Sorry but I do not buy BMW's comments about bad car shampoo, I have had my car washed at around 10 different hand car washes who all use different products and not a sound from the new door seals.
Carbo flow is only a temporary solution, if your seals creak then get them changed while the topic is hot with BMW, who knows their generosity to change for free may not last forever. Just my opinion.

Anyone know when they switched to the new seal type? My car was built in late March 2005, and only minor squeaks so far in cold weather.
On my e 39, which also had the problem, it seemed to be related to car wax on the body where the seal contacts. Suggest stripping off the wax in that location just to see if that helps.

I also had my door seals and sun roof seals replace 2 days ago, I can't really tell the difference now because my old door seals only squeaked when it was around 60 degrees outside, so I'm going have to wait till spring time to see if the problem is fixed.

Looks like production cars after 1/2005 have the improved seals. Note, don't let them use Carbiflo on the new seals!
