Do i need new tires for a day at the track?

I wouldn't say you "need" new tires for a day at the track. But if you plan on doing much tracking...it's not a bad idea to have a dedicated set of wheels w/ tires for the track. The track will wear tires out really fast, so you probably wouldn't want to be using an expensive tire for the track. Also, it not uncommon to scratch a wheel on the track, so again you probably don't want this happening to your "everyday" wheels.

I'd say the biggest factor is the track surface. I use two tracks; and one (Pueblo Motorsports Park) has a very rough surface that leaves marbles rolled up on the tread, but the other (High Plains Raceway) is new, smooth asphalt that creates hardly any noticeable wear.
