I'm a few thousand miles from hitting 100k miles. So far the clutch continues to engage flawlessly through upshifts and downshifts but I know inevitably I will have to change it due to wear and tear. I've searched but no luck. Can anyone tell me or show me where I can get info on DIY clutch and flywheels replacement for my 545i SMG? I'm mechanically sound so it shouldn't be a problem unless there's some really technical out of this world way of doing this. Thanks in advance fellas

Its just nuts and bolts...

just start unbolting until it falls out. Then just reverse what you took out

Hey I have never owned an SMG car before but wanted to know if you need to get the fluid (if there is any) changed or replaced? Also, what else would you guys do for maintance on an SMG? I have about 55K and its running great but just want to keep the information around for the future. Thanks and good luck with your DIY!

Thanks man! Dealer claims "lifetime tranny fluid" but I'll be doing a tranny and diff fluid change soon. As far as SMG maintenance, I got the SMG pump and SMG hydraulic module changed because it "failed" at about 75k miles but it was fortunately covered by my extended warranty. Clutch and flywheel also need to be replaced in SMG cars once it starts slipping and showing some wear.

I am very interested in seeing a DIY on SMG clutch replacement. I tried to do it on my 318ti a while ago, but ended up needing professional help. I am very impressed with people (non-professional mechanic) who can chenge their own clutch, and more with those who can tackle SMG.
