Hello every one,

I am looking for DIY for engine air filter replacement for my 06 525xi. I can't find it any where on web. If some one knows please send me the link. Dealer is charging $100 replaced I want to do it if it's a simple replacement.

Thanks

Replcing an air filter is about as easy as filling it up with gas .
Pop the hood
Release the metal clips that surround the top of the air box
Remove old filter
Replace with new filter
Replace airbox lid making sure it is fitted correctly
Refasten metal clips
Done

Your dealer wants $100 for just an air filter replacement? Really??? Are you sure??? That's crazy considering it takes no tools at all.

Now, on the flip side, have you EVER changed an air filter in any car?

Lol $100 for air filter service... You can pick up a air filter for around $25-$35 and literally swap it out in 2mins, easiest maintenance you could ever do. Like Duke said it's literally a few clips holding the box closed.

Like they said, $100 is REDIULOUS! If you have traditionally shy'd away from your own maintenance, this is an excellent item to learn and start with. I promise that you would be able to handle this on your own!

Go to auto parts store and give them the year and model of your car. They will hook you up with correct replacement.
Pop hood
Follow instructions in first reply
Smile and stick the rest of the cas back in your pocket! (You may need it later)

According to RealOEM.com the list price for the BMW air filter for your 525 is about $30. Removal and replacement is a 10 minute job. You can shop quality aftermarket filters [like Mann] on-line or at a well stocked auto parts store but don't cheap out on these parts because a well made filter will last for a long time before it needs replacement.

You're in NH? Order a replacement engine air filter (p/n 13 71 7 521 038 or 13 71 7 521 033) from your neighbors at Bavarian Autosport... it's ~$20 plus shipping. Or, stock up on a bunch of maintenance items (oil filters, air filters, etc.) and get free shipping.

You can replace the filter yourself.

Just to pull the car into their garage will cost you min of 130.00! I'm suprised they are not trying to charge more than that!
