Okay guys just left the dealership as i was going to trade my 04 530i in today and get a new machine. To my dispare upon arriveing and talking to the salesman which is a great friend of mine, the 535i will not have a manual six speed!!!!!!!. I reluctantly test drove one with the auto did not have the paddle shift ones but that would not have made any differance. I WANT A MANUAL DRIVE CAR, so unless things a in the works and no saleman knows whats up looks like i will be going with a 335i coupe. I drove the sedan and it was rediculously fast agile and comfortable. Again the 535i was very fast, alittle twitchy at 125 and also did not like the squat effect that you get when you nail the throttle. It is a must for the sport suspension and a MANUAL SHIFTER.

This is a deal breaker for me how about anyone else?

I can kinda understand a 550 with a manual, but even that doesn't really make sense to me. An e60 BMW is a luxury car and I just can't imagine having to shift a car like this manually. If you're looking for a manual, then buy a 2 seater coupe/convertible sports car, but to me all 4-door sedans should be autos.

The manuel is going to arrive in the september production.
I am in the same boat and hear your frustration as I also prefer stick shift, always has always will. My 'maybe' 535i is counting on being a manuel tranny.

What if you bought your 5 series because you wanted the ultimate sports sedan? Should the M5s (all 6spds until the E60 SMG) have automatic transmissions? I would buy a MB or Lexus if it was all about luxury.

Absolutely right. To me the 5 is a performance vehicle that happens to have 4 doors (that make life a lot easier for me.)

for me, manual transmission is a must for a 535i. I want luxury and sportiness.

REALLY happy happy joy joy I will check with my salesman friend again next week and see if he has updated info on this option, I would love to get a 550 but price is just out of my league I do have a family and they do like to eat ever so often.
