First of all, I didn't mess with the "units" setting.
Secondly, I checked the display this morning and it returned to the correct mileage. I then changed the units to kms and it went to the number I referred to earlier plus about 75 miles that I drove last night.
Wtf?

ok i guess u're insane then..haha. j/k.. all joking aside. Jimbo.. i say take it to the dealers..
a little know fact about BMWs starting MY 2001 or 2002 forward is that your KEYS actually log in the miledge driven...... so if say someone pulls the fuse and drive car so the cluster doesnt work they'd think no milege was logged.. but to subvert such practices.. BMW has put another log into the memory of your key.. take it to the dealers..and have them put the key into the reader thing..and if there's a difference in the reading and what's displayed..maybe that'd be a start... good luck..and keep us posted!

Since I got my car back from the dealer about 3-4 weeks ago, I've lost my iDrive settings a couple of times. They seem to be holding now.
Like I said before: wtf?
Guess I'll schlep it back to the dealers to at least report this nonsense.

I noticed my odometer was at 6777 miles today.
This is weird because last Sunday it was at 4000 miles. I remember because I had checked the miles to oil service remaining and it was at 7000 and I had checked the odometer and it was 4k.
We took a short trip on Sunday about 150 miles round trip.
What's going on?

Many of us in the States know that the E60 always starts out with kilometers and, as iDrive is booting, changes to "miles". Like a lot of things with iDrive, sometimes the change to miles takes longer than at other times. I wouldn't be surprised if there were instances when the change didn't occur at all.
As a test, look down at the odometer as you're starting the car and you'll almost definately see a "km" reading (and celcius on the thermometer) for a second or two. It will then switch to your US settings.
