difficult to honk my horn
Dear Friends
I have difficulty honking my horn. It is too tight.
I have to push hard each time that really questions my safety on the road.
Do you know any easy and cheap solution for it ?
I have 2004 built e60.
The steering wheel is standard and not M sport one.
All the best

I had an issue when replacing a steering wheel horn button... it was damn near impossible with the air bag. So what did I do? Traced the horn wire, put a button on my dashboard and it was my new horn button. Sure would look odd on a BMW, but..... I think you need a new steering wheel unless you're willing to take it apart and look at the mechanism. In which case you probably wouldn't be posting the question..

Thank you.
I asked my software guy to use two unused function buttons on the steering wheel to function as horn. He will investigate.
Could those 2 buttons programmed as horn button?
I hope yes..

If you have someone willing to take apart the steering wheel, maybe you can see an obstruction or something there that's making it hard for you to press the button/airbag down.
I don't think it's very likely to "program" the buttons for the horn..

The airbag is really simple to pop off and look at. I believe there's a diy on the forum on how to do it. If you can't find it, I'll type up some instructions for you later when I get on a computer.

Thank you indeed.
in fact i believe i can do those things easily.
Do i need special tools to pop up the dashboard for other issues as well as steering wheel airbag etc ?
I believe ebay etc has a good source for that.
