Ordered a car back in July. Requested a 2005, but it looks like it will be a 2004. The car will be here next week (USA). I have looked on the BMW NA site and can not see any differences between a 2004 and 2005. Are there any?

Welcome! (beat Iceman, haha)

Do you know when your car was built? There's really no big differences between the 04's and 05's other than Bluetooth being standard on 05's and a little more wood on the dash. Still I'd hope you get an 05 so you don't wind up with a brand new 1 year old car.

Mark,

The car was built in late August I think. It was at the dock for shipment on 9/15. Not sure that helps.

The only difference, Falcon, is that they raised horsepower by 100 on all 2005 models.

No big deal.

Most of us on this particular Forum have '05s, by the way.

I guess that you can always get a turbocharger if your dealer slips you a 2004 model.

Along with bluetooth, 2005's have PDC as standard, and you can now get Sirius with Navigation. Their could be some other small things, but I don't know about them.

How can you not know what year your car would be? Did you negotiate your price using 04 prices or 05's, which came to light about a month ago. Just check your receipt. It should say what year, MY2005 or My2004 you're buying.

I don't think they will order an 04 for you if you specifically wanted an 05.

I believe, please correct me if I am wrong, all the cars now entering the U.S. would be MY05's. So, I am willing to bet that your car is an 05.

Ordered a 05. Dealer now telling me it is a 2004. I suspect when it was made (late August) that the dealer is in error. I can refuse the car if indeed it is a 2004 that is not the issue. The core issue is I wanted a 2005 (configured the way I wanted) and now I may have to start the process over.
