Okay, so I have been noticing that the extra little bit at the end of the throttle where you have to give it a little more force for "wide open throttle" I think the bmw owners manual refers to it as sprint, doesnt make any difference at all. when I am engaging in some spirited driving, I hardly ever, IF ever give it that last little bit. even from a dead stop, whether it be in manual mode, DS or D, i dont notice a difference...

Is it just me?

Is there a true performance benifit to "sprint"?

When I am driving at normal speeds, lets say in 4th gear and I step on the throttle at 85% the car downshifts to 3rd and speeds up at a decent rate. When I step on the pedal all the way down, the car shifts to 2nd gear and the car takes off like a bat out of hell. Perhaps it's becuase of the mods I have, but I definitely notice the difference between sprint and 85%.

I've noticed a difference on my 530d.
When on 85% throttle (or just before the "click" to full throttle), it pulls to the limiter set by the current temp. (If it's cold, it'll pull to 4k RPM, if it's warm it'll pull to 4.5k RPM)
On full throttle it'll pull to the limiter at 4.6k RPM, no matter what temp your engine is running at.
Depending on which speed you are driving at, it also shifts down one gear more. (So for example from 5th to 3rd, instead of 5th to 4th)

is that last 15% also the "kick-down" where it automatically downshifts to pull harder?

Yep. Also, if your car is not in kickdown it will not rev past 4.5 to 5k RPMs. Only when you kick-down will you high rev up to 6.5k before a shift.
