Mark,

I don't know where I'll be posting come March time as I haven't found a good 911 forum yet. I haven't even got it yet and I'm wondering what on earth I'll buy after it. How do I top a 911? Maybe a C4S if that's been launched or if I save up a lot and am very nice to the bank manager maybe, just maybe ...... an Aston DB9 Whatever, I can't wait to get behind the wheel of the Carrera.

Our friendly BMW dealer hadn't ordered the 535d yet so there isn't a problem. I asked him to delay the building slot until I'd seen the X5 so he was looking at a March build. The fact that I'm taking 2 E90's off him has helped him to get over the loss of the X5 sale. If he puts the X5 on as a demo you might see it when you collect your car in January.

If you know of anyone looking for a bargain 530d or a stonking deal on a very low mileage Z4 3.0 feel free to send them my way

ISUK,
Did you see 5th Gear on TV tonight - 911 Carrera best performance car!!
I will look out for "your" X5 when picking up my new car in the new year - what colour is the X5?
Would love your old Z4 but afraid not enough pennies left - why not sell it to your old man- has he still got the 7 series?

My car was breaking traction like crazy today on mildly damp and greasy road surfaces. I really had to back off the power at roundabouts as the back end was really stepping out of line.

I was on my way to my local Porsche dealer to buy a new model Boxster which they have been allocated and is due to arrive next week. When I got there they had a brand new 997 model 911 Carrera in the showroom that was also an additional allocation car that arrived unannounced last week and was available. It's now sold....... to me!! So I'll be cancelling my 535d sport order and selling my 530d and moving up to Porsche driving on the 1st March 05 (the car cannot be released from the showroom until then which is fine by me).

I'm considering trading my 2003 Boxster by either a new model 2005 Boxster or a 535d bmw... I know they are completely different cars. What's making me think is really the "smile on your face" that driving a Porsche gives. I'm afraid I'll loose it with the 535d... Also I'll have to try the 535d automatic gearbox since I'm very used to manuals and I really love it on the Boxster.

Don't get a Bogster. You will be sorry.

The manual S is OK to drive. But nothing like 996/997. The 2.7 will leave you wanting more.

IMHO the Audi TT (3.2) is a better drive than the Bogster, and cheaper. If you've got the money, get a 911. Even if it's a 996, which can be had second hand for not much more than a new Bogster.

I strongly advise you against getitng a poverty spec Bogster. The Audi TT (3.2) is so much more car for the same money.

And either model in tiptronic are just for "hairdressers". Until Porsche finish their semi-auto (DSG/SMG), go for the manual.

I beg to differ... I have the 2.7 Boxster (2002 model, 228 hp) and I don't find it lacking in power. It gives me much more joy to drive than my previous bmw 320d and bmw 320ci convertible.
