So I was half asleep a few minutes a go when I accidentally filled up with regular 87 gas (stupid mistake, no excuse). I put in 14 gallons before I realized what I was doing. I topped it off with 93, but was only able to fit half a gallon in there. The remainder would have been left over premium from my last fill-up.

I drove the half mile home. How big of an issue is this? Should I go to autozone and put in some sort of additive?

Thanks,

--Ryan

i personally dont think it will damage the engine or u have to worry about anything, You just wont have the car as responsive or get the best mileage. Lol dont put any octane booster or kragen crap. 91 octane just burn quicker, hence better response,

You should be fine - the engine has knock sensors on it. Just don't make it a habit. I would also keep topping the car off - so if you have driven a quarter of a tank fill it up with the really good stuff .

Thanks for the replies. I'm going to chalk it up to muscle memory (or the distracting blondie a few stalls over ) as this is the first time I've ever had a car that required premium. I think I may just top it off everyday or two to blend out the reg with premium, as opposed to driving straight regular.

I promise I will drink a red bull before every fill-up from here out

It doesn't matter which fuel you use unless you're running turbos. You can use 87 all day with no damage to your vehicle.

91 octane is actually less combustible... The higher the octane number, the more resistant the fuel is to combustion and thus more resistant to pre-ignition or knock.

Hmm, so don't try and blend out the regular? I was thinking of just topping it off with premium every morning for the next week.

I think you're worrying over nothing. I'll bet you never notice a difference either way.
