Guys, I have done a little bit of research in this and other forums. I am interested in installing some sort of Ipod interface in a 20005 545i. What I am after is the pros and cons of the solution BMW has and the Dension. Any insight would be appreciated.

Go with the dension! The big two differences is the aux input, and its able to view all songs on the ipod whereas the oem interface doesn't display all the songs on ipod. Not sure if it has been fixed with new software updates but when I had the oem interface that was the issue.

Good luck

With the Dension you can also use a usb stick. A lot easier to drag and drop music to the usb stick.

Hi There!!! As a complete newbie take what i say with a pinch of salt!!! HOWEVER, am also looking to add i-pod/mp3/USB compatability to my '05 530d M SPORT. Have looked into at great depth and the DENSION seems by far the better option as dvd can also be added with ease whereas with BMW OEM system options are more limited. Am even considering fitting it myself as seems easy. But then as a newbie what do i know?!?!?!?!?! Lol.

+1 for the Dension ...

AFAIK mObridge does not have USB port to hookup thumb drive or HDD ... at least when I did my research before I went w Dension couple years ago ...

I have a Gateway 500 with a BTA 1500 for sale. The firmware is updated and it works flawlessly. There is an ipod connector, usb connector and bluetooth module (BTA 1500). I just installed it in my car 6 weeks ago and then replaced the car. The new car already has the bluetooth and ipod connector installed so I don't need the GW. Price new was $420. and the BTA was $100. I'm negotiable on price. If you are interested in them please pm me at smadds76@gmail.com. Thank you.
