I just got my Deep Sea Blue 525dT. It's a strange color. Looks very different depending on the lighting. When it's sunny, it's lighter blue and when it's overcast it's almost dark blue. It also has a little purple in it...
Your description is apt. After I saw DSeaBlue on another car, I ordered the color for my 550i.

In direct sunlight, it appears blue (although much more understated than Monaco Blue), but in indirect sunlight, it has more of a gray/blue metallic appearance. At night, I guessed it would appear more "grayish" than blue.

How does this color appear at night?

I really don't know the foggiest thing about car paints, but I thought the blend of this color was interesting.

It's almost like owning a car with more than one paint job (or changing personalities depending on its' mood.)

Seems to behave like Mystic Blue.

I wonder why manufacturers tinker in such small ways with body colours?

Some nice photos there. Suggest you use a better software to crop or change image size (ie. Adobe PS) which will get rid of some of the jagged edges in your pic.

I use Adobe CS3 and a program called JAlbum for this actual album. I have tweaked it quite a bit since I posted this. The scaler within JAlbum was an older version...I updated and did a few other things...Is it any better?

After 6+ hours of Zaino today, I finally have some good pics of this beauty. This is a pic only post as I plan to post a thorough review in a week or so. Blue is definitely different than white during the polishing process but well worth the results.

Enjoy. Here is a teaser. (rest are on my site below)

Looks good!! Congs!!!
Question: spoke 124 - 18" wheels on a 2008 535xi, is gonna look that good?
Hope so!!!!
Suggestions and pictures of a 535xi with spoke 124 are very welcome

Look at he pictures on Page 1.

In any event, unless you see it with your own eyes, it's subjective.

More change color affect, mystic blue kinda stayed the same, Deep sea changes with light, in some light it looks closer to interlagos blue.
