Yea I used dental floss. I read one of the DIY and a guy recommended using floss or fishing line to remove these types of parts. I thought that was a great idea! So i tried it out and it worked like a charm!
My buddies car had the same exact problem. It was some kind of antenna transmitter that is located on the rear of the car, drivers side, close to the quarter panel. I think UKAmath might be leading you into the right direction. I can ask my buddy what the part was, but he paid around $400 (parts+labor) to the dealer since the car is out of warranty.

@qas1981, thanks that's good work on that collage. I had some work done in that area due to my crash few months back, maybe I can still make a claim on the antenna as well.
