Default Dead Idrive (m-ask) - please help

My idrive is dead. It's a m-ask unit.

Idrive screen is black all the time.
M-ask doesn't eject the cd
Resetting the idrive doesn't work or disconnecting and reconnecting battery.
Backlighting on the 3 buttons on the m-ask is the only thing it does

PDC sometimes works, sometimes doesn't.

Any ideas? Please help.

Thanks,

first i'd check for water under the spare.
someone else just recently posted the same thing. only thing you can do is make sure the unit is getting power....check fuses.

Ok thanks people. I've already cheked the spare wheel well, and thats completly dry.

Ordered a spare M-ASK last night so will update if it fixes it.

I also checked the fuses on the current M-ASK and its fine, its also getting power.

Thanks,

Did replacing the unit work?
Did you have to do any programming or was it just plug and play?
I have the same exact problem driving me crazy😖.

Just get a used unit off of ebay. If you are lucky then the donor car's M-ASK will have identical options to your car. If not, then get someone to program it for you. You sure don't need to pay a BMW dealer $1,000 bucks for a re-built unit.

Thanks for the reply, that the only thing I heard that makes sense in all of this. Are there any online resources to do the coding myself? Or should I pay the dealership for coding?

The dealership will tell you that it is not possible to code a used module. That is their stance and they will stick to it. You need to find an independent shop who can do it, or find someone in the local BMW club who can do it for you.
