In the EU we only have two timezones. So, for driving around here it is not so important like it is in the US.
Maybe that is the reason why the engineers at BMW simply forgot that function...

However, even most of the cellphones here don't automatically switch. I allways like that when I am in the US.

Who knows... maybe one day the BMW engineers will sell the function as an option.........

DST is a stupid and dumb idea, pain in the head...
Some states like AZ, IN and few other do not follow this!
Just leave it to the summer or winter time, it will work out fine

In Germany we just had discussions about DST and if it is better to NOT have it. Maybe it has no future...

Agreed. My Garmin is allways spot on no matter what time zone I am in.
Car manufacturers, including BMW, have no idea that one computer can talk to another. They are probably still using pencils and rulers.

Indiana does follow DST. Arizona and Hawaii are the only states. See my article on Daylight Saving Time for more background

They tried it a few, or longer, years ago and it didn't seem to work out in some areas because of the younger school children having to travel in the dark and they felt it was to dangerous. So they changed back to the old system.
cheers

Ha your probably right! Just as long as they keep putting out quality product, I don't care what they use.

This year the reason is because the US will save Billions in Energy costs.... however that won't equate to me getting a lower gas bill in the winter or a lower electricity bill in the summer

Driving from cost the cost in US it would be good, of course.

Changing it two times a year is not a problem for me,
one gets the exact time adjusted at once.

To Iceman:

EU has actully also three time zones!

Western European Time GMT: UK, Ireland and Portugal

Central European Time, GMT + 1: ie Germany, Sweden, France and Spain

Eastern European Time GMT +2: ie Finland and Greece
