you might require a software update...IIRC early models had this problem and required a trip to the dealer to get the software updated. However I wonder if a local "coder" can get them to work for you as well.

hopefully, other members chime in, but with early models, are the DRL's the inner xenons and not the halo's/angele eyes?

For that model year e60 DRLs can be switched on by your dealer (IF you want them to). Later models can be switched on/off in iDrive.

If memory serves me right the earlier models DRLs are inner halogens. And as luigi524td mentioned, dealer or local coder can turn them on.

If i recall correctly the light switch needs to be on automatic, all the way to the right. I know this could be different on an 04.

This can be enabled on early models with coding in the LM module. You can also add the DRL on/off option in the MASK unit. Someone with NCS Expert could do this for you.

The lights that serve as DRLs are the dipped beams with reduced voltage. Cars fitted with the LM2 light control module (~03/2007, I think) allow the option to code any lights as the DRL. I retrofitted an LM2 to my own car to allow me to set Angel Eyes as DRLs.
