Searched through the DIY section for ya and I couldn't find the DIY of how to rewire the lights, but I'd imagine it is a pretty simple affair - you'd go into the headlight and swap the DRL bulb wiring and the AE wiring...

John, Mike, any help, please?
Wouldn't that throw an error though since the AE's don't draw as much power as 1/2 the high beams?

OK UK guys - Pre LCI (2004-2007 model years) - whether you have Xenon's or not in the UK, you only get the standard lit AE's with parking lights. If you have DRL enabled, you get normal dipped beam - xenon or not I think though it might be different in the US.

Post LCI 2008 Model years onwards - if you have standard halogens then they behave like pre LCI - you just get standard AE's and DRL options in the idrive only put dipped beams on when in "Auto".

However, with LCI Xenon's, the DRL gives you those brighter, yellower AE's. I too would love to do that mod so that my AE's with DRL appear post LCI, but I'm not sure it's an easy upgrade. My car is an LCI with Halogens.

By the way, the new 5 GT appears to have LED AE's - very bright - but bluey white (I'm a rapper....not....)
