I know I hit a pretty good sized pot hole the other day and it made the CD player skip. first time that's ever happened.

Must have been one big ass pot hole, haven't had that happen in a car CD player in years now, I remember it used to be quite common with the first CD headunits.

Update: The CD player did in fact malfunction on demand for the service tech and the new one is going in today. Also had an issue with the rear suspension, something called a stabilizer link, which literally caused an annoying squeak everytime I sat down in my car. Both parts had to be ordered so I'm driving the loaner for one more day. I asked for a 335 but they only had 325's to loan...

Understood, just found the response funny. Anyway, car still at dealer, can't get the software update to take. We'll see how it goes today...

That is good news... Any chance you could ask your rep to install part number 65126942520 instead of the 65126942521?? Would be good to know if a M-Ask replacement with one that is MP3 compatible will be enough for us early adopters...

I don't think we'll ever see a 335i loaner... just like we don't see 545i/550i and M3s etc.... There are a few 330Ci as loaners at the dealership I go to, that is good enough for me

Yes, just kidding on the 335 loaner. Hell, my dealer doesn't even have 330 loaners, just 325's.

As for the M-ASK unit I did indeed get a "new" one but I have a call in to the SA to verify. The print out is unclear as to which unit was used. It actually says "65-12-9-118-071 RMFD M-ASK". I read it as a remanufactured M-ASK unit though it is given a differnt part number, so no match with either the old or new part numbers you list. I have a call in to see if he can clear this up but I strongly suspect because it is a remanufactured unit, it is one of the old ones...

They also did software upgrade though the paperwork does not ID the CIP, simply says "PUMA case, replace M-ASK, reprogram car, PUMA authorization number blah blah blah..." Assume it's ver 24.X, I did check and the eye brows work. Font in iDrive clearly different with slightly different menus as well...

I searched realoem.com for that part number (65129118071) and I got the following:

Part 65129118071 (REPLACEMT M AUDIO SYS. CONTROLLER PROF.) was found on diagram: M-AUDIO SYSTEM CONTROLLER
Part 65129118071 (REPLACEMT M AUDIO SYS. CONTROLLER PROF.) was found on diagram: M-AUDIO SYSTEM CONTROLLER

Part 65129118071 (REPLACEMT M AUDIO SYS. CONTROLLER PROF.) was found on diagram: M-AUDIO SYSTEM CONTROLLER

Part 65129118071 (REPLACEMT M AUDIO SYS. CONTROLLER PROF.) was found on diagram: M-AUDIO SYSTEM CONTROLLER

But when I click on the link, the part number was not listed on the diagram, weird.
By the way, in the list price, there is a price difference between the MP3 compatible M-Ask unit and the one that is not, close to $300

Heard back and the SA didn't have an answer but he and I suspect no joy on the MP3 playback. I just the did the realoem search also and the text below the diagram has the comment "Attention: not MP3-compatible until 03/2005"
