the rims look to be okay, there is no visible damage
the error messages came up again after i restarted the car
but when i started it again after a couple of hours they were gone..
i guess it was the case iCharles mentioned.. thank you!

As for the original poster, sorry. I did almost the same thing a few months ago where 2x in 2 weeks (I really can drive...) I dropped a wheel (or 2) off the edge of the road and bent 3 rims (1 one time, 2 the other...) and ended up buying 4 rims / tires. Long story, but I feel your pain. Hope your insurance covers any damage to the car.

how does the car ride and/or handle? Alignment okay? No vibration at high speeds? Glad the error message went away...hope it stays that way....

My Ride: '04 530d Executive, all options except sunroof and comfort seats
ECU remapped by ZipTuning to 260+bhp.
Also check in your status messages in the iDrive menu.
Go to the i-Menu (push down on the controller in the main menu), go to Service.
Go to "Check Control messages" and see if there's nothing there.
If there are still some messages there, go see the dealer, because active steering faults could be serious.
