hi guys
i hit a very big pothole today at about 30-35 km/h..
and two errors showed up on the idrive screen...
active steering faulty and drive control system! drive moderately...
did i do big damage to the car?
is there any chance they are just sensor faults? :S

, i know in NYC if you hit a pothole and it damages your car you take a picture call DOT(Department of transportation) right away and let them know or 311 where the pothole is and mail them in your damages and they reimburse you

What kind of wheels/tires do you have? If you are running low profile tires it's possible that you bent a wheel. I had the same problem about a month ago. I hit a pothole and didn't notice any immediate damage as the wheel appeared to be fine. After about a week I noticed my tire had a slow leak in it and also had the active steering and drive errors you mentioned. I went to my local tire store to repair the tire only to discover that the reason air was escaping was because I had a bend on the inner lip of my front passenger side wheel. I had it repaired at a local wheel repair shop for about $100 and I'm problem free now. It can't hurt to at least check it out.

I am NO expert at all but I am willing to bet that it is just a computer hiccup. I was messing around with my car the other night trying to adjust the headlight beams to exactly how I wanted them, I was sitting in my car moving the steering wheel rapidly back and forth and I got the same error message about active steering and dynamic drive. I turned that car off and back on and there wasn't an issue. I am guessing that the sensors that monitor driver input go haywire when erratic movement is detected. Perhaps the spastic movement that took place mimicked the exact input the computer looks for to sense a fault?
Who knows.
Is your car still giving you this complaint after you stop and restart? The only other thing I could imagine it would be is the sensors in the suspension that tell the dynamic drive what the body of the car is doing in a turn. If you blew that out, you would most likely get the same error message.
I'll cross my fingers that it was just a fluke!
