A while ago there were a number of threads relating to a creaking rear seat/parcel shelf.
I isolated it in my car to the black plastic ventilation strip that runs the length of the rear window right at the back of the parcel shelf. When I pressed down on it i could re-create the exact same creaking sound.
After several goes with WD40 I have finally resorted to "forcing" a small section of black carpet mat into the "join" where the bottom of the rear window meets the plastic ventilation grill. This prevents the shelf from moving about and so far has stopped the noise.
Thought I'd share this as it was beginning to drive me insane, driving around bumps so as not to ellicit any rattles!

This is related to a rattling noise on the driver's door, it sounds like some cables hitting on a metal plate. I realised this morning that it was actually caused by side window hitting on the door frame. When I wound down the side window a little, there was no noise, but when the window was fully up, the noise of cable hitting metal is back <_<

At the risk of sounding like an idiot, exactly where/what is the parshell shelf?? I have rattling, creaking noises all over and this might be one of the causes.

the parcel shelf is the shelf behind the rear headrests, in which the rear speakers sit. try pushing it up and down at the back (near the rear window) and you should be able to re-create the creaking sound.
good luck!

[/quote]jonboy,
Thanks for the explanation. I'm going to try it today. I'm really getting annoyed by the creaking sound.
