I've had my car for about 15 months,12,000 miles. I noticed a few months ago that my driver side front rim was bent on the inner side edge. While driving home yesterday the FTM light went on and low and behold the tire on that rim was flat.
I went to the local tire shop to get the flat fixed when the employee at the shop told me that my rim had a slight crack in it exactly where the bend was. I left it for them to fix. They quoted me a price of $45 to weld it. Has anyone else had the same thing happen to them? I rather not replace the rim if I don't have to but how well will the repair hold up?? Any input would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks guys!

This happened to some members here on this forum. Please do a search. I'm sure it's covered under warranty if it's not your fault that you hit the curb.

If they can weld it, it can be restored so that you would not know it was damaged. I am betting that welding would be satisfactory, but wait for an expert on such things to get a more definitive opinion.

I dented two rims about a years ago. One was cracked and dented (front) and the other was just dented (rear). I brought the rims to RimPro and they were able to straighten the dented rim ($125) but the rear rim could not be saved. The reason being that the crack was located near the dent so after welding the crack and straighting the dent l cause excessive stress on the welded crack which could lead to cracking again in the future.

The 124s that you have are the ones that are cracking. I split two longitudinally all the way around. Replaced all four. No sympathy from BMW NA for me on that one.
