Couple of Things i dont understand about the 04 530i i just bought!

My Ride: 02" Porsche Carrera 911

Thanks ahead of time!

04" 530i Premuim and cold weather package, production 11/03

1) On the steering wheel there is a phone button, is this for Blue tooth? When i goto communications in my i-drive it says see BMW dealer for details/

2) The Voice button, i hit it and it does nothing, what is it for?

3) any neat tricks on the 04 530i i should know about?

I'm sure i'll have tons more questions, but these to start off with!

Voice steering for your SatNav, Apparantly you don't have it installed.

To have a full list of your car's equipment, please ask your dealer to print it for you. Or send it by e-mail.

Also, please update your profile with where in the world you live. As cars are differently spec'ed depending on country it will help you get the right answers!

You might have SatNav but I think you need to activate a route to be able to hear the navigation-voice.

There is a very active "neat tricks" thread floating around. Do a quick search, and you'll find lots of items on it. Most will be applicable to your car.

If the communication section on your iDrive produces dealer information, it means you do NOT have bluetooth installed in your car. The phone button on the steering wheel is there on all cars whether the function is there or not. Unfortunately it would appear that you do not have this option installed.

This, if the option installed, activates voice recognition. When pushing the button, your stereo will mute and you will hear a "beep" at which point you can talk to your car and tell it what to do. As above, the button is there no matter if you have the option installed or not. If you push the button and nothing happens (e.g., no stereo mute and no beep) then you do not have this option installed.
