You are comparing a touring tire (granted a V-rated) but a touring tire versus a ULTRA-High Performance. Not a High Performance, but a ULTRA High Performance. Completely different treadwear and traction. For the Ultra High Performance you are looking at 20k, maybe 25k.
I am sure at tire purchase time, you can find a better mileage tire, but you will give up traction.
FYI: The Conti Sport Contacts had a very low treadwear rating (160). The new Contact 2's have a treadwear of 280. So, I think the tire manufacturers are starting to get the picture - we want ultra high performance with respectable mileage.

I don't expect to keep the 5 beyond the lease, so I installed the Contis and will let it go in another 16000n miles.
