JD Power surveys in the UK often come up with a cheaper car as a winner.
It is all about expectation.
You buy a BMW / MB it has to be perfect or you complain like hell.
Buy a car for ?7000 you do not expect much so are often pleasantly surprised.
Nothing wrong with that, but you always need to keep in mind what may be behind the results.

Just need to look through the forum and you can see that 2 things apply:
1. The law of diminishing returns - the more expensive cars get the less extra that one gets for the money
2. The better cars get the more 'picky' the faults we find become.
Perfection is very hard to attain - people don't even expect it in a Fiat Punto, but in a ?40K BMW they demand it.

Ask almost any owner of a (modern) Skoda, and they'll tell you how amazing their car is. They're happy because they got an "Audi with a different badge" for a bargain price, and this tints all judgement with a rose hue.

What is their methodology for collection and analysis of the data??
For instance, the same "problem" could occur in a e60 and a Toyota Camry, (parcel shelf rattle, creaks, etc), but would most Camry owners even care and report it?? On the other hand, we e60 owners are pretty picky about things (at least quite a few of us are) and we try to get our cars perfect. In this situation, it would be one point against BMW. How can you put a Camry or Accord in the same category as a BMW?? They are not even in the same class, even without the V8.
