Anyone owning the E60 1 year or more, what are your complaints now? What have they solved and how? Would you buy again?

Thanks,
Jimbo

My only complaints
1) the restraint system msg
2) cup holders.

So far the rest is behaving!

1 year 10k+ miles!

opppss..may I add...how about making the button for the heater steering wheel more visible or maybe having a way to find out if my heater steering wheel is on other than having to tilt the steering wheel and turning my head!

that can help

Hi, my E60 is 15 month 'old and in short i've got the following problems.....

Problems solved:
- display dark at low temperatures
- every 1000km message "service needed"
- oil sensor replaced
- now and then message "tire flat" (while they are OK)
- message "check oil" (while nothing wrong)
- new motorhood

Still open:
- slow respone gaspedal
- not functional automatic 'headlight' turn on/off
- handbreak makes strange 'boink' noise when used
- rainsensor not adjustable
- radio 'prof' stores 'radio station' names as 'local-x'
- rattling front-doors
- rattle somewhere near the light switch
- somethimes 'forgetting' presets of radiostation, miles/kilometer, fahrenheit/celcius

My conclusion for this moment: "this is not a BMW!" My former cars (5-series) were better. Much better!

Sorry to hear all those issues you're having.
One thing I can relate to is the pro radio indicating LOCAL - X ( X being a number of priority )....funny thing is, I'm close to the border with Belgium and Germany and those stations are indicated with their normal RDS names! I appreciate that LOCAL is just that - but I would prefer the actual name of the station.
Don't know if it is a problem or done like that on purpose. Dennis??

I think nearly everyone has had the door rattle issue at some stage...mine comes and goes on occasion.

I don't technically qualify but am close w/ 11+ months and 9,000+ miles of ownership. Only problems have been resolved to my satisfaction:

1) the headlight bracket cracks which have occured and been replaced twice.

2) rattle in passenger seat that was resolved quickly.

3) throttle lag greatly improved with latest software update

4) Fuel line clip and DME Emissions recalls done

That's it for me...

Okay. is it me or does it seems that the major problems are cars not sold in the U.S. Maybe it's an 04 thing.

i am quite lucky from hearing what others have experienced. my car comparatively has only minor hickups.
after 8 months and 18k of daily driving, some minor glitches comes to mind.

only one master key works with RDS radio, the other will not display station information.
(took me a long time to figure out)

slow response with the trunk release remote on key.

there is no visual (traditional) way of finding out the level of washer fluid, i spill each and every time! i also believe the washer low sensor is inaccurate.

pathway lighting has not worked.

DCS button actives too easily as i drive manuel, i accidentally touch it too easily.

"- handbreak makes strange 'boink' noise when used"
-happens to me on a few occasions, didn't really bother me too much.

i wish the volume button shows a visual progress of the sound.

my entire cigarette lighter assembly 'caved in' into the center counsel, fuse blown. -repaired to satisfaction.

"display dark at low temperatures"
-i didn't bother fixing.

the entire tach/speedo cluster is loose, small 'play'
-cant be fixed.

i never liked the timing of the rain sensor, cause the wipers makes the dry scrapping sound (too sticky) when moved too often on the semi dried windshield. - friend of mine suggested applying rain dance on the windshield as a remedy, but i didn't get to it yet.

i dont like the cup holders. -i don't get a secure feeling, they feel wobbly.

these are a few which comes to mind. <_<

I have no problems anymore. The car runs great and everything is as it should be (no more rattles too )

I have the same thing with my radio. Several stations are given as local-x. Don't know why. I think it has to do with the changing RDS text some stations use.

I sometimes listen to ID&T radio and they don't change it and it always shows.. Very cool with the voicerecognition. I say Station IDT and it gives the station immediately.. Very cool!
