Compartment cover problem

My Ride: My ex-ride: EU '08 LCI 520dA. Space Grey, Sport Seats in Black Leather/Fabric Anthracite, Sport Steering Wheel, A/C with Extended Features, Hi-Fi Speakers, Cup Holders, Cruise with Braking function, Folding Rear Seats, Xenons, Park Distance Control.

My compartment cover, between the seats, did jam today, badly.

I opened it >90 degrees and it got jamned.
I almost run over a grandmom trying to jank it down.

After a big "cranck" sound I got it down.

BMW plastics are not worth a s**t!

Where's the quality?

It seems it could have used better plastic materials...especially that this is a 5er after all. Above the average.

BTW: Off topic stuff (didn't want to start a new thread only for this minour stuff):
Does anyobody know what's with the switch in the glovebox? It's a switch, on the far left of the cd-changer that turns either left or right. Is it for the cooling feature of the glove box (acting like a refridge.)? Thanx.

Switch is for AC vent... regulates air flow into the glove box
