I was having Bluetooth functionality installed today and my SA called and said the communications (or computer) bus crashed He went on to say that he had to get approval for BMW to replace it because it was an expensive piece of hardware. Does anyone have any insight to what this bus does and how big of a deal is it for me? It would be great if the new one gave me Sirius

Since the item was the communications bus...I suspect we are taking about the TCU, but I'm not sure.
The TCU has been the subject of many posts, primarily surrounding Bluetooth, as the production date of the TCU controls Bluetooth availability.

It may not be the TCU, it may be the CCC since you have nav.

Here's some general information about the CCC and what it does:

Thanks Rudy, it is INDEED the CCC. I spoke with the tech yesterday, he said it crashed in an impressive fashion (he had never seen one crash the way mine did). Additionally, his upgrade disks are stuck in my cd and nav drive, he has a "PUMA" (I think thats what he called it) sent to BMW. Additionally, he said there are some known issues with the CCC's and BMW may not have the parts available, as the ones in stock also have the issue. Has anyone heard of this?
