Comfort seats without a doubt. Although trying to adjust them to the "20 ways" they can be played around with is kind of annoying. There are almost too many settings. However, compared to the sport seats in my E39, which I believe was "12 way", these are SO much more comfortable and sporty.
I also like that the passenger side has the memory settings like the drivers side.

I have only every heard very good things about the comfort seats and found them great in a 530d courtesy car I was given for a weekend. Very comfortably and could be adjusted in every possible direction. The sports seats are IMHO also great for long distances, but I had to search for quite some time to get the ideal position. What sciarrino wrote about the upper body support on the comfort seats is something the sport seats can't achieve from my experience, simply because they do not have as many means of adjustment.
I drove an E90 325d M-sport yesterday as it happens and was shocked how tight the (sports) seats were. I used to have an E46 320d M-Sport and didn't think they were that tight. Either they have changed the size of the 3er seats, I have been going down the gym to much (-unlikely!!), or I am now used to the "arm chair" size of the 5er seats
Eitherway, the 5er seats are significantly larger so you 530xda should have a better chance of getting a seat that better suites your needs. A long test drive with differnt types should help you there.

Oh, and I orded my new E61 with comfort seats. It was a no brainer for me. Once you've tried them there's no way back. Like most of the stuff on BMW's options list, regrettably...

Oh, it was a friends E90 which I drove who has a slimmer build to me and likes fast cornering, so you're probably right about the squeeze setting being set to, erm, squeeze!

I'v driven only 1300 km with ordinary seats and 45 000 km with sport seats, so it's difficult to compare. Anyway, I have noticed the same thing as many of you have reported: sport seats require quite much attention in order to find the suitable position. Especially with HUD you have to be careful in order to maintain a good field of vision. Therefore, for example after service, I have to do 4-5 adjustment sessions to find back exactly the same settings I had before. I'v fed up with that and decided to choose electronic adjustment to my next car. Also, after leafing through optionals list, I noticed that sport seats + electronic adjustment costs almost the same as comfort seats (incl. electronic adjustment + memory), so there's no reason to choose anything else than comfort seat package.
Has anyone compared Mercedes S-class and BMW comfort seats? I'v never tested BMW seats by myself, but Mercedes S-class was extremely good, so comfortable that I could never imagine. I suppose BMW has around the same feeling..?

Had no idea that comfort seat even exist before I bought my e60. Although I never tried the comfort seat, but just looking at the picture of comfort seat, it looks very comfortable.
