the E60 comfortseats is alot better then sportseat in 3er. ( my opinion)

I am 6'3" and I love it, I still have plenty room for the back seat too. I didn't pull all the way back, if I do, I would not able to floor the clutch.

My Ride: 2004 545i / Orient Blue (I think) / Tan int / 116's Wheels / ... my favorite option, the HEATED steering wheel! Previous cars retired: 2006 Corvette Z51, 2002 Corvette Coupe, 2002 Mustang, 1997 Maxima, 1994 Camry, 1990 Supra None, and I mean none compare to this 545i. The 06 Corvette was faster, but not by much...

5 seats are wider and the whole cabin area seems a lot wider.

I cart customers around and the 3 is just too tight.

the one thing I wish I had that the 335i had was the thigh support thing that comes out, mine doesn't have that, but hands down you'll be much happier either way in the 5 seats.

Is the comfort seats softer to sit in, and dont have the side support?

It may be the side support which could be the problem with the sportseats I think (and no my ass is not that big). i can feel the sidesupport when driving for hours and they may be annoying then.

sports seats aren't really sporty enough. they don't hug you enough in the turns.
comfort seats can be adjusted to be tighter or looser than sports seats. probably best of both worlds.

Right, comfort seats are adjustable in every direction. First of all you can make yourself to fit perfect, just as you need, and with sporty ride it's perfect.

Very important is the upper part than can be adjusted so that you don't have pain in shoulders.

Comfort seats are just perfect ...

I have to agree with you!
The only problem I have is with the side bolsters snugged up, it gets hot. Not so much a problem when it's cold, but ......
The vent seats might be worth it in the long run. I am considering getting a sheepskin covering for mine.

The comfort seats are the best seats in any car I've ever been in. They have more adjustments than I can possoibly begin to worry about. Absolutely perfect. I can drive for hours and hours, without using cruise control... and never get fatigued.

Getting comfort seats is a no brainer - IMHO, they hold you in better (after adjusting) than sport seats - there is a reason BMW (in U.S.) made comfort seats standard with the sports package.

I drove 1100 miles in one day and had zero back pain - truly amazing!

I have only every heard very good things about the comfort seats and found them great in a 530d courtesy car I was given for a weekend. Very comfortably and could be adjusted in every possible direction. The sports seats are IMHO also great for long distances, but I had to search for quite some time to get the ideal position. What sciarrino wrote about the upper body support on the comfort seats is something the sport seats can't achieve from my experience, simply because they do not have as many means of adjustment.

I drove an E90 325d M-sport yesterday as it happens and was shocked how tight the (sports) seats were. I used to have an E46 320d M-Sport and didn't think they were that tight. Either they have changed the size of the 3er seats, I have been going down the gym to much (-unlikely!!), or I am now used to the "arm chair" size of the 5er seats

Eitherway, the 5er seats are significantly larger so you 530xda should have a better chance of getting a seat that better suites your needs. A long test drive with differnt types should help you there.
