To lock the car you push down on the handle outside, I did it on a 550 the other day at the dealer.? Whats $1000.00 on a car that has $15000.00 in options, like what happened to me.

lol, a $1000 is a lot to a stupid a$$ kid who went in looking at 330i's and came out with a 530i on order!! Hence the screen name ghetto fabulous. "It sure looks good girls, but no I can't afford the gas to take you out in it tonight!" hahaha

Thanks for the clarification. But how do you arm the alarm then?

Good point; it all boils down to individual wants and needs. But nonetheless, its not a "must have" option.

You're right, it is not a mandatory option but if I read BMW right, all the gadgets in the car are supposed to make you enjoy the driving experience and leave all the settings and set up to the various computers. The car doesn't even have a water temp gage or an ammeter - because - they think - "why bother. You don't need to know the water temp or voltage to drive, do you?? If the car heats up too much, or the battery is weak or not charging, the computers will let you know".

So, along the same lines, they add a push button start, but you still have to use the key to get in and you still have to insert the key in the column to use the button - an additional step. In ANY OTHER car when you insert the key in the column, you just turn it and crank up.

With CA you never have to take it out of your pocket, gym bag, briefcase, purse - whatever. I think ther start button ONLY makes sense with CA.

Now, if they had the start button WITH the CA as a bundled option - as opposed to a regular key start without the button, yeah, that would NOT be a must have.

I do appreciate all your input on this. And also, as katheikia says "Whats $1000.00 on a car that has $15000.00 in options..."

When you push down on the door handle, it locks doors, and activates the alarm.

The start button does only make sense with CA, but not having CA is still not a big deal.

The start button is right in front of the keyslot and you don't even need to turn the key....both as we all know.

A very painless process that certain individuals are making a very big deal out of and most not really speaking from experience.

You can adjust that yourself in i-drive, you can also choose if you want warning lights when opening/closing and how long your follow me home lights will be on

CA is sounding better and better all the time. Anyone had any troubles with it? It could also be one more thing to go wrong.

besides being able to choose which doors are opened, in case you touch the door handle and then not open any doors, it will lock itself back after a while (this is also true with the regular remote key).

With comfort access, is there a key hole in the door?
