Default Comfort Access not working?

I just picked up a 2006 M5 that lists Comfort Access in the VIN decoding, and also has the tell tale battery door on the back of the keys (comfort access fobs), but I cant seem to get any of the comfort access features to work with either of my keys. The doors dont lock or unlock when I touch the handle, and more obvious, I cant start the car without putting the fob in the steering column.

Any idea what I need to do to activate the comfort access? Is there anything in NCSExpert, Inpa, etc. that needs to be changed? Do the fobs just need to be reprogrammed?

Iam going to ask you because you did not say you replaced the batteries...but did you try new cr2032 batteries? I just did and it works great again. Hopefully the dealer gave you programmed keys for the car.

Yes tried the batteries first. Also, fob works fine for lock/unlock with the buttons and car starts fine with the key in the column. Its almost like comfort access is turned right off.

I had that issue once. First, make sure you actually have the module installed, you can look visually, underneath the steering column or you can run a scan with INPA and see all the installed modules. I only know how to fix this issue with DIS v57.

This is what you need to do:
When you scan your car with DIS, go into "Function Selection", then "Service Functions", then "Body", then "Locking and Security Functions", then "Remote Control/Key". Follow the prompts to read the key, you have to take this key number and assign it to either profile 1 or 2. Those are the only two slots allowed for comfort access.

After, insert key, drive for a mile or two, not sure if this is necessary but it didn't work for me until after I drove.
