Doh! Something else I missed in the manual. I never thought that "starting" would be automated so skipped over this part.

I really need a PDF version of the 2005 manual. Don't understand why BMW still hasn't posted the 2005 manuals on Owner's Circle.

As for the behavior of the door locking/unlocking under Comfort Access perhaps it will be selectively configurable through iDrive.

I do not understand then why in 1-series and 3-series with Comfort access option they still retain special place in the dash to insert the unit. What is it for in this case?

because thats NOT comfort access... thats just push button start, you still have to put an access key into the dash

That's clear enough. But if you have comfort access what's the use of this slot in the dash if you can start the car without inserting the access key into it? Just to charge the battery of the key?

I sent them an email asking this, and they said the 2005 owners manual is the same as the 2004 manual.

They're not the same. For example the 2004 manual has nothing about Bluetooth, the 2005 does. So while the start assist is covered in the 2004 PDF other things are not. I've notice other detail differences as well (manuals do get updated). I hate going out to the garage to look something up. Okay, I'm lazy but why the delay? Better yet why the erroneous information about the manuals being the same?

Ya thats what I thought When I read all that mumble jumble... Comfort access probably doesnt have any slots... only the cars that dont have comfort access will have the slot for you to put your key in. Now I dont know if they'll have 3 options for starting the car 1.) regular key twist 2.) Slot in dash for IR key and push start 3.) Comfort Access
