I think if thieves really want your car it doesn't matter what kind of alarm you have they'll get in it and drive off with it. If they can't get it started then they still can tow it away. This is why we pay for insurance right?

...with regular remote steeling a car is still a two step process...you can get the door open with the wireless key but then you still have to start the car somehow. With CA, when you hit on the key to open the door, you then just start the car with the start button...or am I missing something?
Still a two step process. The system will determine if the CA fob is inside the car until you are able to start it! A couple of sensors pick up where the fob is (inside or outside). You can't start the car with the fob outside, or unlock the vehicle from outside with the fob inside.

This is absolutely right. Car cannot be started with the key fob outside of the car.

If someone wants the car, they will take it. I do wonder on the merits of the capability as the radio frequency, the type of encryption needed would be something that most hoods would not have at their disposal.

Hey my thoought is, get good insurance!!

I hate to beat a dead horse, but its not the "fob" itself, but the signal and its location. So the thief parks next to your new 550i with his laptop, and 20 minutes later hits on the right frequency. The door opens, the thief moves his laptop inside the car, presses the start button, and drives away. Don't underestimate computer hackers, they love cracking this stuff....I don't know what level of encryption BMW uses, but it better be good!

A little reality check here.

We live in the world of reality not a Mission Impossible movie set. Most likely if the thief has the brain power to pull of a theft of this capacity most likely they are going to have a job working at Microsoft, IBM, or Apple.

I don't think so. There have been plenty of people with talent throw it all away. But like others have said. When there is a will, there is a way. Chances right now are slim that someone will steal your car in this way. But it's not impossible. I think you're more likely to have your identity or CC stolen.

They want it? Take it. Just dont let the cops ever find it again. I dont want it back after they've stolen it and driven the @&*$^ out of it. I'll put in a claim for a 550i.

Wish we had a system like that in the UK.
