I should have done this maintenance before winter, but I just bought the car the end of November. Other than that, I've had no driveability issues if I let the engine warm up properly.
My 05 545 has also been under those same conditions (Rigaud QC) and has not suffered any ill effects, although the cabin takes forever to warm up at idle. A few kms on the road and everything is fine.

I keep my car outdoors (warm garages are murder for corrosion by salt put on the roads, since the salt solution tends to migrate everywhere when it thaws), but the battery has a trickle charge during the day due to a solar panel attached. Most of the time when one gets steering and dynamic suspension warnings, it is due to a low voltage from the battery.

Salut, Bob P..

There are 4 of them on front of the engine

Below is a picture of them on the passenger side. The drivers side looks pretty similar, just no opening for a vacuum pump

I've never done it, but it shouldn't hurt. On one of the UK forums I was reading about a guy who bought a 545i where someone had disconnected one of the vanos solenoids to cover up a valvetronics issue.. it ran perfectly fine with valvetronics "disabled" using this method.

Obviously keep in mind this is second hand info from the internet, not exactly a BMW approved way of doing things

My 545i also runs poorly when cold. Once it warms up, no issues.
