Hey can anyone explain what's Thermal oil-level sensor? I brought my car in to a reputable euro shop for a smoking problem. The car is 06 550i, and I noticed the other day that my car was blowing blueish/Whiteish smoke form the talepipe. It only happens when I pull off from a complete stop, and not all the time. So he put the car on the computer and a bocklet printed out of all the shit that came up from my car. Now I want to know WTF is Thermal oil-level sensor? Then is says "oil loss". The car does burn more oil than the usual. I already scheduled an app for the stealer to see what they say. I do have "Mechanical Breakdown" warrenty do you think they would cover the tab.

check the engine oil level. If the oil is up to the mark, then the sensor may be failing.
Does your 'mechanical breakdown' warranty cover? You should call them (warranty company) and ask. Asking others won't serve any purpose.
'talepipe' and a 'bocklet'? :-)

The Thermal Oil Level Sensor fault on BMW's is a false alert normally. This pertains to the oil level sensor on the bottom of your oil pan. This error or code has a second meaning pertaining to the emission system. You should first change your crankcase valves, check for vacuum leaks (smoke test). I have heard a big issue is leaking valve stem seals so this may actually be your issue if all else fails.

Also almost all that stuff they pulled up means nothing. It is all old stuff that is in shadow memory. The real way to test is have them clear everything and then drive around and see what pops over the next week. The CCV's are very easy on these cars and cheap. A good start and you can absolutely do this yourself.
