I have a SMG 530i. Within the past week whenever I am starting for a stop in 1st when the clutch is engaging the car shutters. The car also has been shuttering or like "gasping" to go forward in higher rpms around 4K. Any ideas as to what would be causing this?

Well one thing is for certain, a trip to your dealer should be on your things to do list. You paid big bucks for the car, let them fiqured it out, maybe something, maybe nothing.

Sounds like mine... try slowly reving it in neutral and see if the engine is smooth...

no more freebies at the dealer... I have to pay from now on... I'm now 50,300 miles...

Although I haven't had an E60 SMG, I've a fair bit of experience with E46 SMG.

The "gasping" at higher revs sounds like a common problem on the CSL . The SMG actuator is often the culprit. In the first instance, reset the SMG (if same as the E46, put in neutral when driving and pull both paddles for 2 secs, then back in gear).

Do you hear "hissing" sound of hidraulic pump while shuttering is present?
