My car is out of warranty and i just noticed two days ago that if i hit a bump or turn the wheel hard left then spin right, there is a loud clunking sound comming from my front suspension. It also happens more often and louder when it is cold out. Any ideas?
Thanks
Mike

funny thing, i just noticed this too on my 06 525i. i first heard this last winter and mentioned during my regular service appt. No surpirse, they were not able to replicate the noise. No now that the weather is cold again, (below freezing in Toronto for the past 8-10 days) I have noticed it - not so much when i turn the wheels, but when i go over a speed bump or entering a steep driveway cut-out.

I heard it may have been the bushings on the suspension and im terrified that it may be. Anyone who has had the same problem please help us out.

I've had this problem since the day i had my car and thts been a good 2 years since then and nope, still not rectified.

Mine's a tad bit different though.

I live on a slope.. So when im heading in and out of my house, sort of like doing a right angled turn up my drive way where 1 tire goes up first while the other tire is still down and the steering is turned, there will be a clunk clunk clunk sort of sound under my feet and subsequently the same 3 clunk clunk clunk sounds upon returning the steering back to the neutral position.

This also happens when im going up car park ramps that are very narrow and steep (think right angle turns)..

They've tightened a "stabilizer bar" that is supposedly in my dashboard that can cause these kinds of sounds. They've also replaced all front bushings.. Checked the sway bar links and still i have this problem.

Doesnt pose an issue to driving, spirited or not so im inclined to leave it as it is.. Till i sell the car.

But good luck in locating the problem!
