Default Clunk on start up and shut down

Hey guys,
im wondering if anybody is gonna know about or have experienced themselves what I’m talking about and what advice you’ve got.
I just bought a 2007 530i and have since discovered a clunk when starting and stopping the engine sometimes. I took it straight to the bmw dealership near me and they diagnosed it as the modules engaging or something when it starts and disengaging when it stops. Sometimes though the clunk is really quite loud and prominent and other times it’s not there at all. I’ve been told by bmw that it’s nothing to worry about and it is ‘normal’. Has anyone else had the same issue? And if so what have they done about it?
cheers

Are you saying when the car is stationary, and you turn it on, you hear a clunk at that point?

yeah so when the car is stationary, you press the start up button, the engine starts and straight after there’s a clunk

I initially thought maybe the motor mounts and that was one of the things bmw said it might be too because it sounds like it’s coming right from the bottom of the engine bay. Apparently not though...

It's a software glitch in the transmission module. Can be programmed out with an update. Mine does it. I don't care enough to spend $$$ fixing it.

yeah man that’s basically what I gathered from what they told me, however I would’ve thought bmw would be able to fix it so seems weird still
