Im having a hard time deciding on which car to get, a white CLS500 or a white 550i with nav, comfort access and M aero kit. I drove both cars and performance wise the bmw takes the benz. But since the benz is soo nice looking i can't decide which to get. Please help me decide and list your opinions. Thanks!
You can't make wrong decision getting any one of them.

CLS500 was the only other car I considered when I bought my 550 in Oct/05. I think the body stlying on the CLS is absolutely beautiful and it turns my head everytime one goes by. But, imo it would have to be a CLS 55 AMG (not just the AMG package, which is crazy $) to make it close decsion. BMW all the way.

My Ride: '05 545i - scheduled for ED pickup in Munich on 7/22!
I like the looks of the CLS, but I wonder if its so different that I wonder if it will look 'unfashionable' in a year or two. The other reservation I have is that the CLS's back seat doesn't have a seat in the middle so its strictly a 4 seater.
I haven't driven a CLS yet so I can't comment on its dynamics.

The CLS engine will be updated soon like in 2007 or 2008. The 550i might well get a engine update too at the speed of technology going now.
Hope that was objective and not BMW bias.

msport package, steptronic, pdc, mystik blue, grey dakota leather, sunroof, Bi-Xenon, heated rear seats, Hi-FI system, velour carpets
When I bought my 530 I considered the CLS 350. The chose the 530 because of the driving experience of the BMW and also because I got a Jaguar feeling with the CLS. Jaguar is for old people .

If you want more exclusivity get the CLS - I reckon it will be less common than the 5 series.
The CLS does look very nice and the interior to me looks way better than the current E60's. However there are a few drawbacks. My mate has one and when I sit in it I feel claustrophobic. Especially in the back where the downward sloping roofline makes it a lot worse. Also its a strict four seater (I think thats becasue of the transmission tunnel which Merc have decided to hide with some panelling and a bit of wood).

Wifey drives an X5 4.4 with Sport
Couple o' points.
1. Back seats. If you ever plan on having folks ride in the back, definitely the e60. The CLS's swoopy roof infringes on the back seat occupants. The e60 has plenty of room. My three kids can sit back there and don't complain, and when I have a couple of adults they are coddled well.
2. Warranty. The BMW's warranty is definitely worth looking at vs. MB. Scheduled maintainance is a HUGE plus in my book. Even if money is no issue, it still gripes me to pay.
3. Dealerships and maintainance. My local BMW delership kicks serious booty over the MB, and besides, my service rep is hot.
4. There is something cool about owning "The Ultimate Driving Machine." People that buy Bimmers, generally are more "Car Guys and Gals." Older folks buy MB. Opinion and perception.
Hope this helps.
