Thanks for reopening a two-year-old thread!

I agree with the 1st part but not with the 2nd. I'm surprised if the place you got your battery "replaces BMW batteries all the time" that they don't have the program and equipment to register your battery for an extra $50 bucks. It will make your battery last longer. Otherwise, you may be facing the same problems you describe next year.
