They told me that I now have ver 15. If so, nothing has really changed that I could ID in the first 12 miles. iDrive boot up is still slow, radio comes on when iDrive boots, no RDS,
I didn't lose any settings. I got the top tail light grounded and think, can't be sure yet, that AM radio reception has improved. It will take a while to verify that one.

JDN, to see and know for sure what version you have, get a "Status report" printout. You can't have version 15 - that's a CIP version. You may have version E060-04-09-555. See my post "CIP and SW version explanations - my "theory" ".

At this point, I don't even have my work order. Had a BMW NA engineer with the shop foreman when they both told me it was Ver 15. However the engineer left me a note that said the quicker boot up would come with a later version.,

With 13.3 and earlier versions, the mute position was saved.

What's a CCC car? Radio stays muted w. V15 on my car.

A CCC car is the one has Navigation System in US or Pro Navigation System in Europe.

Correct.
There is CCC and MAS-K. MAS-K is one CD drive, CCC is two drives, one for CD's and one for DVD's/NAV.

DXXXi,
I would assume that NAV is the same for all North American cars. Mine has it and also has all Canadian roadways.

I also have the lag with my 530 steptronic when in D mode, but when I got to DS mode, It is normal with no lag.

It would be great to get that lag out of there, it can be annoying or even problematic when trying to get out of the way of another car, and you feel like your car is waiting to go.

Yeah, they are the same.
I am thinking the lag seems to be gone now that my s/w has been upgraded. The car feels like it really wants to go now. Unfortunately, it has been quite cold and somewhat icy lately and I have been taking it easy. I tried it once and it really seemed to hesitate and I thought "dang it's worse", then I realized the lag was the traction control and I was starting to spin-out on the cold pavement.

My theory on the lag being present in D-mode was that the car seemed to start in 2nd when in D. When I punched it, the lag was caused by the transmission shifting down to 1st. In DS, the car always starts in 1st. This may explain why some people think driving the car hard cures the lag - i.e. it learns to start from 1st in D.
