CIP Update - Is it all or nothing?

If I get the dealer to install an update for one thing (like the front/side marker problem), does that mean all the software in the entire car is updated?
I'm pretty happy with the way the transmission works - wouldn't want that to change, but would like to have the latest iDrive software, and maybe it would fix the problem with the sound system.
What other components have software that can be updated?

AFAI, it will basically reimage the car computer.. so what ever latest fixes are included in latest 24.02 CPI, u will get them all.

My Ride: (USA) 645Ci, Silver Gray, Chateau, Cold Weather PKG, Premium Sound PKG, Sport PKG, Step, NAV [Std Equip in 645], HUD, Satellite (SIRIUS) Radio, Aux Input, Bluetooth enabled using iPhone 3GS w/ adapter cradle - Build date - 01/05, Baby delivered 2/24/05
Very delicate operation in some ways. Techs instructed to set everything up so car is not "touched" during process once started. All pluged in, SSSR set up and start process. Come back periodically to see if it aborted for any reason. If so, clear fault if they can or fix issue then restart from beginning. A clean run might be several hours once initiated. Cannot pick and chose as already stated.
