LOL - you guys with CIP 23.02 should start a club and flash to each other when you see another 5 series with no brows. The 23.02 Charter - maybe you could get special stickers made.

Kinda scary BMW let that one slip past them. It's not like it's a difficult thing to notice in testing .

Wonder what else isn't working? Airbags? Seatbelt tensioners? Airbags trigger when left rear window switch is pressed down while the CD ia playing and the passenger seat heat switch is on 2nd position ? Scary...
...and somebody's passenger side mirror cracked because of increased thermal output on the heated mirror !

I hade my CIP 23.x update.
Evereything seems to work ok, the "battery drain" message at sturt up has gone and my brows are working.

The only BIG problem is that the Sat Nav doesn't upgrade position (it remains blocked on the position at start) and I have to go back to the dealer .

I guess 550 9/06 production has this software installed. These pictures are what my i-drive looks like. But now I am curious about the eyebrows on my car. Its only a six weeks old and I never thought to check the eyebrows.....

Just come from dealer, apparently applied 'latest' CIP (23.02?) and lost my eyebrows too! (This is after explicitly telling the dealer that it *could* happen )
Just come from dealer - only fix (as far as they are concerned) is CIP24.x - no date given!

Also, the folding mirrors on lock has been lost in CIP23 too apparently!

Really the CIP "number" doesn't matter. IMHO they are just stating the obvious - bugfix in a future software release.

As far as auto folding mirrors - did I read somewhere that in UK this is a dealer-programmable option (when it works!!!)?

I've been reading the conflicting opinions on CIP upgrades on the forum for some time. I called my dealer to request an upgrade to latest software and he advised that they would only do this if there was a problem with the vehicle that required attention. Any associated benefits form the upgraded sortware were incidental and not available on request. He also mentione that there was an finite number of upgrades that could be performed before the hardware had to be chenged. Is he trying to fob me off?

Can someone explain/guide me to a thread that will explaine about CIP. What does it stand for? How often are upgrades released?

Thanks
