When you have NAV Prof. a CIP update takes ~3 hours (if everything goes well!!)...

Cars without the CCC, takes 1? hour!

If you have Prof. Nav then you have the CCC onboard, because that's the CPU or the computer for the Prof. Nav...

btw is it true that a CIP change procedure takes the better part of a day or is my dealer just talkin bull
Every time I had a new CIP version updated (20.00 too) it has been necessary at least all the night in order to verify/program all needed features, and I have a lot of optional that requires attention.

Dealers have started to learn that it is best to bring in car late in day and do a CIP update overnight. The set up process is long and needs to be followed precisely. Once set up the car must not be touched. They can do 5 cars (E60/E63/E90) at a time per SSSr (Software Service Station revised). They have to restart if certain errors or traps are encountered. Some errors or traps are expected under certain configurations of vehicle or versions of CIP. These are included in the release notes the techs receive with the CIP (or as now termed, PROGMAN) update.

I have MP3 on my Oct 05 Week 39 production E60, However the pictures posted seem to show an improvement in the file name handling. On my E60 only the current track displays the full filename and tag info, all others are limited to 8 characters
Can anyone confirm that 20.0 is the key to showing full track names? This 8 character thing is complete bull (yea, I know I'm lucky enough to be able to play them - but still)
In my case it displays the full name but with underscores linking the words instead of spaces. However, when a song is playing it is displayed differently and then it displays correctly, with spaces, in two lines. Any way, it looks rather nice.

I just upgraded my sept 04 built 545 with Nav Prof to CIP 20.0 with MP3 capability. I also only get 8 characters in the track list. Only the current playing track shows all the info. Anyone figured out why some of us only get 8 characters?

I suspect it is related to the ISO file lenght. It can be Level-1 (11 chars - 8+3) or Level 2 (Max. 31 chars). The s/w you are using to burn your cd's should have a parameter to select the ISO modes.

Yes, it seems that the BMW CD player read the file names in the track list, and then the ID3 tag in the details of the current track. But on the CD I burned I have long names, so why does the BMW CD-player cut them after 8 characters?

No... I have a US built 2005 545 Logic 7 sound system and I do not have Prof Radio, so I'm pretty sure its Bus Radio... theres only so many radio choices that BMW had... Only MY06 E60s and on have Prof Radio...
[/quote]

I believe L7 is called prof radio in Europe, so it should be equivalent to yours...

Nope... The Prof radio is a stand alone option in Europe

But it's included in Bus. NAV and Prof. NAV
