What is displayed initially on the idrive screen is the file name (something.mp3) then if you play the file you will get the song name and artist name
The file hane you see when burning - in wmp can not change (at least I do no know how)
The song and artist name you can change in wmp, but not in nero
I found that I had to use sony dc-r
had a bunch of memorex cd-rw and never got a consistant burn
wmp does burn more consistently that Nero
I did slow the nero burn speed down to 4X and checked for errors

Sorry for butting in here, but I think the problem may be that after ripping the CDs to the hard disk, you need to use a plug - in with Nero to convert the music to MP3 before burning. The only problem I found with Nero was that although I burned the albums in sequence, when they appeared on iDrive they all were in alphabetical order regardless of which album came first. Hope this helps.
I wish i had gone for the Pro Nav - the screen is much nicer to look at from the pics (icons are shaded etc... more colours). It seems as if the bus. nav is a bit of a cost cutting excercise for the euro market. Same goes for the idrive with feedback - if you follow their guidelines and dont play with the Nav while driving, it makes the feedback a bit pointless, except for radio use etc. Does the E90 have the feedback assisted controller and a better screen?
Now that I can play MP3 CD?s on my bimmer, now that I know it can also read MP3 DVD?s on the DVD drive, but I have to take the NAV DVD out, I?m thinking how suite it will be if both drives were able lo read DVD?s!!!
I?m just dreaming?

I have MP3 on my Oct 05 Week 39 production E60, However the pictures posted seem to show an improvement in the file name handling. On my E60 only the current track displays the full filename and tag info, all others are limited to 8 characters

In my case it displays the full name but with underscores linking the words instead of spaces. However, when a song is playing it is displayed differently and then it displays correctly, with spaces, in two lines. Any way, it looks rather nice.

I can confirm that CIP 20 will enable MP3 on early production e60s with Pro Nav. I just picked up my February 2004 production e60 from geting updated and MP3 works like a charm.

Just talked to the SA. If there are not problem related, the CIP upgrade cost about $200 (2 hours labor). As for MP3, the technician said NO. My car 3/05, no NAV will NOT play mp3. Sucks . . . .
