How do you find out what CIP version you have? My car was built Nov. 8, 2006 and the MP3 works fine.
Um quick question guys. Should my stereo have MP3 capabilities?......it was called the Business Radio here and it has 6 speakers I think

Only dealer can tell you. All new owners should ask for their CIP version upon delivery so they can baseline the car.

Nothing past 19.02.03 for dealer upgrades in North America yet according to BMW TIS site.

Typically, you won't know what CIP you have unless you have your software reloaded, perhaps entailing an update, for some reason. To know, you would have to see to it that your tech notes what software was in your car before the reloading began and what version was loaded.

Yes I just spoke to BMW service and they confirmed that CIP 20 is here since yesterday and MP3 is available. They have loaded the software since yesterday afternoon but have not yet test it
Someone in US please confirm this!!
I know I do not have 20. Have an 06 w/ Oct 2005 production and I have mp3 capability. I have had problems w/ mp3s making skipping sound and then they go to the next song. Almost as if the disk was scratched or dirty.. But disk is fine. If i take it out and put it back in it works better. Seems intermitent but happens daily.

CD DVD SKIP.YOU COULD CHECK THE QUALITY OF YOUR DISKS ,AND THAT THEY ARE TRUE,NOT DISTORTED WITH CLEAN EDGES AND CENTRE HUB,ALSO THE THICKNESS IS NORMAL,MOST OF ALL CLEAN STORAGE AND TRANSPORTING TO PLAYER IS A MUST.

Agree! Had multiple problems the same as yours with mp3's
Finally solved with high quality discs and slowed the burn rate down - the guy at best buy said this is common for some mp3 players

The software is delivered by the internet, so any dealer with the proper BMW firewall system
should have it!

But does anybody know the benefits of CIP 20 ?

Hi guys,

i have read several threads in german forums that the cip 20 supports mp3 for the older cars equipped with nav pro. most of the people who have already had mp3 were because either they were 06 nav pro or nav bus models.

from this point of view, i guess bmw just wants to wish us merry christmas.

greetings from vienna
