My Ride: '04 545iS 6 spd, bought new via eBay, 11/05; Blk/Gry, Cold, L7, PDC, BMW Rear seatcover for pets.
First "Bumwa" was a new 1971 2002. High performance 5s since 1987. Beamer motorcycles too, currently on an 07 BMW K1200 GT; also a Moto Guzzi 1000 SP III.
Uh, guys, I think your geometry lessons have failed you: added load will not effect that rear gap. However, SNOW will. Just think about it; it's there for a reason. 
And, #5, your lens is NOT centered on the hub, therefore being forward a few inches, optically, it makes it even worse.

I would have also thought that additional weight in the trunk would further reduce the gap around the top of the wheel, but would have only slight impact on gaps A and B.
In any case the reduction of gaps A and B (although slight) should be proportional to eachother.
I.e. the ratio of gap A:B (lets approximate it is equal to 1:2) should not change.
